YES – I do offer bridal alterations and customisation services for wedding dresses bought elsewhere!
Wedding dresses are made in a much more specialised way than everyday garments, so you need to be sure to entrust your special gown to an experienced bridalwear seamstress.
“Caroline was an absolute life-saver when it came to altering my wedding dress at extremely short notice.
She did a terrific job and made me feel really confident, despite it being so close to the wedding. I can’t recommend her enough.”
– Chloe

The most common alterations I carry out are:
- Taking up the hem, sometimes just at the front, other times all around.
- Size adjustments
- Design changes, such as neckline reshaping, decorating with fancy trims or beadwork and the addition or removal of sleeves.
Perhaps you have a more unusual request? I love a challenge – Book a consultation with me!
How much do bridal alterations cost?
My minimum charge is £60 and brides typically spend between £150 and £500 on their alterations, so it is worth setting aside an alteration budget when buying your wedding dress, unless your bridal store purchase covers in-house alterations.
The price of bridal alterations is dependant on factors such as numbers of layers to be altered, complexity of style, the requirement for additional materials and the delicacy of fabrics.

Feel free to call or email about your alteration requirement. You are welcome to send me images, to help me understand the issues and from this I may be able to give you a rough estimate of the cost, but for a definite quote, I will need to inspect the dress on your body.
This will require a 30 minute consultation which you can book and pay for, using the button. The cost of this will come off the overall price of the alteration.
I trusted Caroline with my wedding dress and she really did not disappoint me. I would 1000 per cent recommend her. She kept up great contact all the way through and was an extremely lovely lady.
She made sure my dress was perfect before allowing me to take it home.
Fantastic service. XX

Bridal alterations - keep in mind when choosing your wedding dress:
-
- It is better to buy a dress that fits you, rather than a smaller one that you intend to slim down for. It is far easier to down-size a dress, than up-size it.
- A cheaper dress can often be more expensive to alter, as the fabrics used can snag and fray very easily and are a devil to unpick!
-
- Glittery, sequinned and beaded fabrics require extra time and expertise to alter, thus ensuring a flawless transformation for you and sufficient after-care of my equipment!
When should I book my alteration with you?
I only take on a limited number of wedding dress alterations per month, which I fit around my bespoke bridalwear orders, so as soon as you know you are going to need me, call me to secure your spot! Once you’ve paid your deposit of 50% of the quote, your time with me is booked.
About 4 weeks ahead of your wedding is a good time for me to actually undertake the alteration work on your dress, in order to avoid any rush fee or last minute stress. I want this experience to be as gentle as possible for you!
“I can’t praise Caroline enough. I ordered a dress online and it was way too big.
Caroline has taken it in, taken it up and inserted modesty panels at the front and back. It looks amazing. The stitching detail is amazing, really well done. The dress fits perfectly now. She has saved the day.
Thank you Caroline.”
– Linda

What should I bring?
Definitely wear the bra and shapewear that you intend to wear on the day and bring your wedding shoes.
What other clothing do you alter?
Depending on my availability, I will take on evening, bridesmaid and prom dress alterations, which are chargeable at the same rate as for bridalwear.
“Caroline did such an amazing alteration on my bridesmaids dress, very friendly and professional.”
