Hello, I’m Caroline!

I’m an experienced wedding and evening dress designer and I work with modern women who want to rock their day in their own unique way, with a dress that perfectly reflects their personality and accentuates their individual style.

I specialise in a wide range of styles, from long flowing, romantic gowns; beach, boho or rustic looks; cutesy short, vintage-style 50s dresses; all the way through to more quirky, alternative designs, as well as the classic, traditional, bridal wear silhouettes.

All of my luxury gowns are individually designed, made-to-measure and hand-crafted by me in my boutique studio in Heath and Reach, a leafy village in Bedfordshire, which is easily accessible from the Leighton Buzzard, Woburn and Milton Keynes areas.

My professional journey

My passion for dress designing began when I was about 13 years old. Having nurtured this interest throughout my teens, I studied a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion at the University of Westminster and additional courses at London College of Fashion, most notably in Bridalwear, Corsetry and Draping. Even today I regularly update and broaden my skills, by doing online professional courses, such as couture embroidery and embellishment techniques.  This enables me to create even more unique and personal elements for your wedding dress.

After my degree, I spent a good number of years working as a designer/pattern-cutter in the fashion industry at all levels, but my interest settled on evening wear and generally clothes that really made the wearer feel “unique and amazing”.  This category however, is a broad spectrum, so I like to tap into each of my clients, to discover what their version is, then infuse that into their gown.

This link of the chain is naturally impossible with mass-produced clothes, so to continue my creative journey, I decided to start my own business.

My designing background

My passion for dress designing began when I was about 13 years old. Having nurtured this interest throughout my teens, I studied a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion at the University of Westminster and additional courses at London College of Fashion, most notably in Bridalwear, Corsetry and Draping.

My fashion career began at Bella Freud, Abe Hamilton and Vivienne Westwood, dressing the Supermodels at her London and Paris shows, until I was offered a design room role at the evening wear brand Frank Usher.

From there I progressed through the ranks and by the time I left, I had designed several evening dresses for the Frank Usher label and learnt many valuable high-end evening wear techniques.   I also worked as a creative pattern-cutter for well-known high-street brands where I experienced the joy of bringing original design concepts to life.

I did not enjoy wedding dress shopping!

When the time came to plan my own wedding, I struggled to find the right dress and hated the traipsing about and conveyor belt approach to wedding dress shopping that was common at the time. I therefore decided to make my own bridal gown, based on styles that accentuated my best features, hid my worst ones and still suited the overall look of my wedding.

I thoroughly enjoyed this process and decided that bridal wear was my passion.

In 2000, I started my dress-designing business in Harrow-on-the-Hill, London. I moved to Heath and Reach in Bedfordshire in 2004 and continued running my business. It seemed that people in my new locality were particularly keen on encouraging and supporting local businesses and understood the value of individually handcrafted items. My business flourished, with many word-of-mouth referrals.

Having taken a few years off from the paid commissions, to raise my four sons, I came back to designing, full of renewed vigour and a mountain of ideas.  But this time, I was a mother and had become more patient, confident and resourceful!
